Eastwood Public School Uniform Shop will be using a POS system
January 29, 2010
The Eastwood Public School Uniform Shop will use a POS system for it's new term opening.
The Eastwood Public School Uniform Shop will begin it's new year/new term trade next Tuesday 2nd February by using a computerised POS system.
The Eastwood P&C Association which runs the Uniform Shop formed an IT Committee last year, and one of the things the committee highlighted was that the Uniform Shop could do with a bit of technology. Seng Sirimat (Sirsoft founder) is a member of the Eastwood P&C and used his background in IT Consulting and POS integrator to run with the project. After many months of discussions and investigations, Seng recommended MYOB Retail Manager for it's ease of use and implementation and also it's affordability. It will be able to meet all the criteria of the Uniform shop i.e. ease of doing sales transactions, inventory control, and reporting.
The P&C voted in favour of spending money on the POS hardware and software late 2009, and so the wheel was set in motion.
Seng spent late nights for the last month setting up the database, and finally putting the system together and delivering it to the Uniform shop staff.
All this was done on a volunteer basis and not on a consultation basis because Seng felt that the Uniform Shop staff also spends a lot of their free time helping out at the shop every Tuesday of every school week. It would not be fair otherwise.
Next week, I will report on the the first day of sales using the POS system...
